The Start-X ultrasonic tips by Dentsply Sirona are designed for better control of access to the cavity and location of the entrances to the root canals. They are available for Satelec or EMS.
The main features of the Start-X ultrasonic tips are:
Micro-etched active part: no risk of diamond grit presence in the patient's mouth.
Water connection: cools the insert and prevents overheating of the treated tooth. This is very useful when removing metal posts (for which high usage powers are required).
Intermittent irrigation use: allows the doctor to alternate between precise dry work or efficient evacuation of material residues.
Excellent fracture resistance.
Clinical indications for each Dentsply Sirona Start-X ultrasonic tip:
Start-X Tip #1: for finishing the walls of the access cavity with a non-active tip to avoid damaging the floor of the pulp chamber. It has an active lateral part that creates direct access to the canal.
Start-X Tip #2: for exploring MB2 canals (second canal, mesiobuccal root). Its active tip removes dentin that often hides access to the MB2 canal in upper molars. It has an active lateral part that creates direct access to the canal.
Start-X Tip #3: for exploring the entrances of the canals. Its active tip removes obstructions that prevent straight-line access to the canal.
Start-X Tip #4: for the removal of metal posts with a specific design to work effectively on both the end and sides of the post. It has water connection that prevents high insert temperatures.
Start-X Tip #5: for clearing the floor of the pulp chamber. The tip is active, making canal location easier by removing calcifications and obturation materials that hide the original anatomy of the pulp chamber floor. This tip is thin and cylindrical for good visibility.
Power adjustment:
As a general rule, it is recommended to start with a low setting and increase intensity only to safely perform a specific task. Each specific clinical application requires different power.
