K3 files by Kerr are part of a third-generation asymmetric endodontic file system. Designed to facilitate the comfortable, effective, and safe removal of debris, they can easily address many technical challenges in the procedure.
K3 files have a variable pitch (distance between cutting edges) that helps efficiently transport debris coronally. This allows the dentist to make a difference in initial cleaning, preparation, and subsequent reviews.
By relieving pressure from the cutting edge on the radial surface of the files, friction resistance is minimized. Unlike other NiTi files with wide radial flat surfaces that increase friction and can lead to fractures, K3 files have added mass to the cutting surface to provide greater support, preventing deformation.
