The new Protaper Gold rotary file system from Dentsply Sirona includes a series of shaping and finishing files that create predictable Protaper shapes and a proven system.
The shaping Protaper Gold files SX, S1, and S2 pre-enlarge the canals and are designed for use with the brushing technique, while the finishing files (F1, F2, F3, F4, and F5) are more flexible. This allows each canal to be shaped and finished with a comprehensive system approach.
They feature the same geometry as Protaper Universal; however, these files offer a 24% increase in flexibility. This is a significant advancement for instrumenting curved canals in the apical zone. The flexibility achieved through the treatment of its nickel-titanium alloy (more flexible than steel) significantly improves the quality of the procedure. Additionally, it substantially reduces working time and physical effort for the operator compared to manual techniques.
The Protaper Gold file system from Dentsply Sirona provides more than double the cyclic fatigue resistance of Protaper Universal files. This is a decisive advantage in preventing instrument fracture.
Dentsply Sirona has created a non-cutting tip for the design of Protaper Gold files that allows them to safely follow the previously instrumented canal segment. This small flat surface facilitates precise navigation through soft tissue and debris.
To enhance cutting and reduce rotational friction between the file blade and dentin, a convex triangular section and variable taper have been added. They also include a shorter handle (11mm) to improve accessibility.
Protaper Gold files from Dentsply Sirona come sterilized in two format options. They can be purchased in a blister pack of 6 units, with the option to choose lengths of 19mm, 21mm, 25mm, or 31mm. Alternatively, a assorted set of files (SX, S1, S2, F1, F2, and F3) is available with lengths to choose from 21mm, 25mm, or 31mm.
Protaper Gold files use the same rotary motion and work with the same motors as Protaper Universal.
