The lubricating action of the Glyde system by Dentsply Sirona facilitates root canal treatment by reducing the risk of instrument fracture. Additionally, it aids in debris removal through EDTA, a demineralizing agent that softens dentin, facilitating the shaping of calcified canals.
The combination with urea peroxide causes an effervescent reaction that helps eliminate dentinal mud. Urea peroxide, a widely used oxidizing agent also in whitening procedures, chemically cleans and removes anaerobic bacteria from the canal. Complete removal after rinsing due to its water-soluble formula.
Steps for using the Glyde system by Dentsply Sirona:
Irrigate with sodium hypochlorite and introduce the first manual and rotary instrument into the canal.
Apply Glyde to the access cavity using the disposable tip or single-use presentation.
Reinsert the first instrument and begin preparing the canal.
Irrigate with sodium hypochlorite and reapply Glyde to the access cavity (also available in disposable doses to prevent cross-contamination).
Continue preparing the canal, alternating between sodium hypochlorite and Glyde with each instrument.
Once the canal is prepared, irrigate abundantly with sodium hypochlorite until bubbling ceases. Dry and obturate.
