Clinical Case: endodontic treatment with BlueShaper PRO® by Dr. Juan Algar

In the field of endodontics, precision and innovation are crucial for successful treatment. In this article, we explore a clinical case by Dr. Juan Algar involving a biopulpectomy on tooth 17, resolved with the help of Zarc's advanced technology, including the BlueShaper PRO® system, the Z-Activator wireless ultrasonic activator, and the Z-Down + Z-Up obturation system. 

Clinical case instrumented with BlueShaper PRO® 

The patient, a 54-year-old woman in good general health, presented with spontaneous pain in tooth 17. Examination revealed significant mesial caries with pulpal involvement. Irreversible pulpitis was diagnosed, and root canal treatment was recommended. 

The patient had a significant distalization of the clinical crown, and radiographically, it was difficult to observe the root contours and canals. The mesiobuccal root showed a curvature greater than 30º, classifying the case as highly difficult according to the American Association of Endodontists (AAE) criteria. 

Dr. Juan Algar chose the BlueShaper PRO® system due to its flexibility and superior cutting ability. This system is particularly suitable for difficult cases like this one, thanks to its DualWire® technology, which eliminates the shape memory of the files, allowing them to be pre-bent for better access to curved canals.

The instrumentation and obturation were successfully performed, managing the anatomical complexity and ensuring effective cleaning and proper sealing of the canals. 

• Instrumentation: Sequential use of BlueShaper PRO® files from Z1 to Z4. 
• Irrigation: Application of 2.5% sodium hypochlorite and 17% EDTA, activated by the Z-Activator. 
• Obturation: Vertical condensation technique using the Z-Down and Z-Up system, employing Z4 gutta-percha cones and AH Plus sealer to ensure optimal sealing. 

Finally, detailed post-operative care instructions were provided, emphasizing the importance of following recommendations to ensure optimal recovery.
